- October Declared Solar Energy Month by Arizona

— OCTOBER DECLARED SOLAR AND RENEWABLE ENERGY MONTH
In
response to a presentation and request by the Arizona Solar
Energy Advisory Council (ASEAC) , Governor Jane Dee Hull has
proclaimed October as Solar and Renewable Energy Month The
Governor's Proclamation is just one of the steps identified by
the ASEAC in its meeting with the governor, and gives
recognition to the opportunity and potential of solar and
renewable energy as a part of the State's economic machine
while at the same time providing for energy stability and
security, and environmental benefit for Arizonans. A copy of

Governor Hull
was quoted "Solar and renewable energy offer enormous
potential for economic development, energy stability, and
environmental benefits. Arizona is working toward becoming a
leader in solar and renewable energy. I hope that the public
will take this opportunity to become better informed on the
future possibilities in our state."
PROCLAMATION
- ARIZONA SOLAR AND RENEWABLE ENERGY MONTH
WHEREAS,
solar and renewable energy holds enormous potential for
economic development, energy stability, and environmental
benefits for the people of Arizona; and WHEREAS, Arizona has
the human and natural resources to become a global leader in
education, research, use, manufacturing, and provision of
solar and renewable energy applications and technologies;
and WHEREAS, solar energy and renewable technologies offer
Arizonans a better, more affordable, and sustaining
lifestyle; and WHEREAS, the activities of Arizona utilities,
local governments, advocacy groups, and Arizona solar and
renewable energy non-profit and industry organizations,
promote the use of renewable energy to make it commonplace
in Arizona; and WHEREAS, the Arizona Tour of Solar
Buildings, in concert with the American Solar Energy Society
National Tour of Solar Buildings, will offer the public
opportunities to see local solar energy and green buildings
that enable Arizonans to live better at least cost to
ourselves and in our environment; and WHEREAS, this activity
supporting greater use of solar and renewable energy is
important to Arizona, its future, and our legacy to its
children; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jane Dee Hull, Governor of the
State of Arizona, do hereby proclaim October as ARIZONA
SOLAR AND RENEWABLE ENERGY MONTH

Governor
Hull's Proclamation occurs as a lead-in to a month rich in
solar and renewable energy activities and events, from the
Green Building Expo at the start of the month to the Hot
Topics/Cool Solutions Expo at the end of the month , with
Arizona Solar Energy Association/Arizona Solar Center and
other groups and individuals providing solar and renewable
energy tours and open houses every weekend somewhere in the
state. The tours provide the Arizona public opportunity to
experience Real Buildings with Real People" and see that
solar and renewables are built and used today, and are
lived/used by persons like themselves. For more information

Energy Advisory Council is established under law to provide
solar and renewable energy information and advice to the
State, via the Department of Commerce Energy Office. Its
members meet monthly, serve at no pay, and are appointed by
the Governor. Member representation is from the State's three
universities; a variety of solar and renewable energy
businesses; solar and renewable energy non-profit groups; and
the utilities, and encompass a variety of backgrounds from
economics to geography to native Americans, and a breadth of
expertise from architects to engineers to city officials. For
